Crocodilian pictures

American Alligator

This was my friend Oke. He had to move to a wildlife center because he was too big to be in the education department at the zoo.

American Alligator

This is another picture of Oke. These were the last pictures I got of my friend before he moved.

American Alligator

Ok, that idea didn't work! Here is Oke climinbing a fence!

American Alligator

An American Alligator from Gulf Shores Alabama.

American Alligator

The next few pictures are some of my favorite wildlife pictures ever. I was alligator watching at Eufala National Wildlife Refuge and heard a large slash. After a few minutes, this is what I saw and photographed!

American Alligator

You can see the larger gator with the fish and a few smaller ones that were constantly following him around.

American Alligator

After about an hour of walking around with this fish, he thrashed his head about and ripped the head of the fish off.

American Alligator

One more thrash of the head and its "fish heads, fish head, rolly polly fish heads"

American Alligator

Its crunch time! I could actually hear the bones of the fish crunching and the alligator chomped on the fish's head (mmm yummy)

American Alligator

A few more chomps, then down the hatch. The alligator just ate the head and left the body of the fish on the bank. The smaller alligator ignored it after the larger one left. I actually saw several other "headless" fish in other parts of the refuge.

American Alligator

Photographed near New Orleans Louisiana.

American Alligator

This is what I want my vacation house to be like! It is actually the part of the swamp display at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans.

Leusistic American Alligator

It is not albino, see the black eyes.

Leusistic American Alligator

Same alligator as before, just a cool picture.

Gharial

A fish eating crocodilian from India. I can't remember where I took this picture. Since there is now bulge on the nose, you can tell this is a female.

SMILE!

An American Crocodile showing you his "tools of the trade". Actually this is just his way of regulating his body temperature. He is trying to cool off now. This picture was taken Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa Florida.

American Crocodile

Another American Crocodile. I think this was is from Gatorland in Orlando Florida.

Chinese Alligator

The highly endangered Chinese Alligator. This one is at the Houston Zoo.

Orinoco Crocodile

This is another very rare crocodilian. The Orinoco Crocodile is from the Orinoco river basin of South America. I read recently that this croc (from Dallas World Aquarium) recently laid a fertile clutch of eggs! Congratulations!

Dwarf Caimen

The smallest of the crocodilians, the Dwarf Caimen. Small, but full of attitude and sharp teeth!

Indo-Pacific Crocodile

Also called the Saltwater Crocodile and the Eustuarine Crocodile. These are the largest living reptiles on earth! These are at Gatorland in Orlando Florida.

Indo-Pacific Crocodile

Close up of the crocs head. Yes, I had to take the picture through a fence.

Slender Snout Crocodile

A Slender Snout Crocodile from Africa. This particular one is at the San Antonio Zoo.

American Alligator

A nice picture of a very young American Alligator
